Real life stories
I recently talked with Sarah Treleaven, from Chatelaine, about my experience as a rape survivor, the lingering effects of trauma, and the long road to recovery. You can read about it in Chatelaine’s Real Life Stories.
Also, I was recently interviewed for the Winnipeg Jewish Radio Hour by Gerry Posner, an old family friend. Our conversation will air today, Sunday June 15th, at 1:30 pm (central time) on CKJS 810 on the AM dial (you can also tune in online).
may be me
METRAC (Action on Violence) has been an important institution in Toronto since its inception in 1984. It works with individuals, communities and institutions to change ideas, actions and policies with the goal of ending violence against women and youth. In 2012 METRAC launched May Be Me, an annual campaign to raise awareness and funds to prevent violence against diverse women and youth.
This Saturday, May 31st, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, METRAC is hosting a May Be Me event, the Purple Pekoe Tea Party, at La Maquette Restaurant (111 King Street East, Toronto). You can purchase tickets here. I will be doing a reading at the event from One Hour in Paris and there will also be a musical performance. Please put on some purple and come out for an afternoon of tea tasting and treats in support of a great cause!
